Just for fun, let's assume you are track athlete (individual) running the hurdles (profession, job, goals). It is a fact that a chain is only as good as it's weakest link, but what if you are the chain! If the chain breaks at any link the process is completely shut down. Follow through on the example below looking to evaluate what stage of the process you are currently at.

STAGE ONE
Some athletes (individuals) although gifted, never get out of bed. They wish and hope for improvement but lack the self-motivation to get going. Something always comes up to prevent them from getting started. It's always tomorrow I'll ........philosophy.

STAGE TWO
Some athletes (individuals) make it to the track (work/goals) but never quite get focused on their reasons to be there. They socialize, come improperly dressed, procrastinate and kind of drift with the tide.

STAGE THREE
Some athletes (individuals) link practice with improvement and actually start a performance program. However, they lack consistency. Physically they are there but low mental motivation short-circuits their program and its results.

STAGE FOUR
Some athletes (individuals) are committed to improvement. They see results which in turn motivates them to continue. They plateau then complacency settles in creating a slow downhill slide. They become easily lured away from their original goals. Numerous books have been written on this stage, which is closely associated with the "Peter Principle" of gravitating to your level of incompetence.

STAGE FIVE
Some athletes (individuals) create an internal compass that continues to show them direction. They realize to achieve at top levels personally, they require specialized coaching, motivation and programming. Accountability to their coach for consistent action in the direction on their goals creates and internal drive catapulting them into the elite levels (which include at the center: self-worth, notoriety, financial abundance, etc.). Basically, they cruise on "Autopilot". People like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods in the athletics would be prime examples.

WHICH STAGE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN?

The bad news is that statistics tell us that the first four stages account for nearly 90% of the population! If one of your links breaks in any of these stages you are significantly reducing your chances of rising to the goals, dreams and aspirations you truly deserve and are capable of.

The good news is professional coaching provides the additional impetus to move you rapidly toward your desired dreams and goals.
